Is Tyson Fury Making A Massive Mistake?
It looks like 2021 is going to be the year that the world fight fans get to see a blockbuster fight with both heavyweight fighters coming from these shores, Britain and the rest of the world will be watching to see who becomes the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. Lets hope that this fight stays in the United Kingdom against all the other offers this fight will no doubt will receive. The other stepping stone we have is getting Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn to do business together surely with both going to amass a large fortune both will forget their egos and make the fight happen.
I believe that both fighters want the fight so when this happens the fighters usually get what they want so nothing should stand in the way of this mega fight as I believe the percentages and the rematch clause has already been agreed.
AJ Has To Get Through Kubrat Pulev
There is one other rather big obstacle in the way in the form of a eighteen stone Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev that Joshua has to come through, although most people in boxing are not giving him a chance we all know what happened last time Joshua overlooked a certain Ruiz. I do not think Joshua will make the same mistake again and overlook Pulev. I really do believe that Johua will win this fight with ease, Pulev likes to stand and box and this is perfect for AJ. I think the styles that cause AJ the biggest issues are the fighters who like to put pressure on him like Ruiz and Povetkin.
Ready To Go In May
After Joshua comes through this fight again he will be ready to go by May or June 2021 and will be in good form with the Ruiz first fight long behind him feeling confidant and looking sharp ready to do the business against Fury.
Tyson Not Boxed Since Feb?
Fury’s last outing was the amazing win over Deontay Wilder on the 22nd February 2020 this will mean if the AJ fight is in June Fury will of not boxed for a massive sixteen months. Tyson Fury himself has admitted that he is at his best when he is boxing regularly. This inactivity is not going to do him any favours at all in the biggest fight of his life. When you do not box for so long you develop ring rust this is the same as a footballer not being match fit no matter how hard he works on the training ground he needs match time to ensure he is sharp. AJ will be in a much better position than Fury and hold a massive advantage.
Carlos Takam or Agit Kabayel
Fury was meant to be boxing on December the 5th in the UK against Takam or the unbeaten German Kabayel this would of been in my opinion a great tick over fight for the British fighter keeping him nice and sharp for his next fight. Frank Warren supposedly said these fight were to dangerous and could possibly jeopardise the AJ fight.
Eddie Hearn
Hearn immediately agreed with this I believe he knew this would be a massive benefit to Joshua. Eddie Hearn is shrewd and has been around the boxing game for a long time.
Deantay Wilder Contract
The Wilder rematch contract has been detrimental to Fury and has done him no favours at all, Wilder went missing and quiet on the fight front so it was impossible to get the fight made with the obvious pandemic also not helping. If Fury did fight Takam or Kabayel in December he might of been open to legal action for breaking the rematch clause.
Lock Down - Hard To Spar
Even though Fury has been training very hard every day it must be very hard for an athlete of his calibre to get good sparring and also Fury’s trainer lives in another country I really believe Fury needs as much time as possible with his new trainer I know Sugar Hill Steward has come over for two weeks and then another two weeks but Joshua has the advantage of being with this trainer permanently.
Possible Wilder Fight?
There is also talk that Wilder wants a third fight and they are doing everything they can to make the rematch, this would work better for Fury making this fight before the AJ fight as Wilder is in the same situation as Fury not boxing since February.
Conclusion
This is not the first time Fury has had a major disadvantage in a fight, the first time he boxed Wilder he had to lose an amazing ten stone in a year, no specialist thought it was possible and everyone betted against him it takes a special kind of person to go through that. He was fighting Wilder with no strength in the first fight away from home.
Went To Germany
Fury seems to thrive on being the underdog he enjoys proving everyone wrong about him, he likes to pick challenges that no other so called experts think is possible and proving them wrong. He does not like to do anything conventionally we can all remember the time he went to Germany to fight Klitschko again no one gave him a chance apart from his training team at the time. I do not think worrying about inactivity or ring rust is in his nature it will probably just spur him on more.
Undisputed
Whoever wins this blockbuster fight will become the Undisputed Heavyweight Champion something that has not been done since the amazing Lennox Lewis, lets all keep our fingers crossed and hope this fight happens.
